Super Mario Fusion Revival source files released (v0.5.3r53)
« on: March 12, 2017, 08:53:35 PM »
Greetings.

We recently decided to stop making fangames and focus on developing original indie game titles. As such, Super Mario Fusion Revival is now open source and public domain, and we have put it up for public download. You are more than welcome to continue this project on your own as you see fit. However, before downloading the source, please read the following disclaimers and warnings:

1.) The game was developed on GM8. GM8-made games do not run properly on most computers running Windows 8 or later.
2.) GM8 is no longer commercially available by YoyoGames. If you want to continue development of SMF:R without porting it to GM Studio, a working copy of Game Maker 8 Pro is absolutely required. We will not give you a copy of Game Maker 8 Pro, so please do not even ask.
3.) Porting it to Studio is a logistical nightmare.
4.) Even if you somehow get some actual progress going on the game, good luck tangling with Nintendo's recent trigger-happiness at shutting down fangames.

Most importantly, answer these questions pertaining to yourself and decide if the effort required will be worth it in the long run:

1.) Do you have any computer programming experience?
2.) Do you know how to use Game Maker?
3.) Do you have a decent grasp of game theory and level design?
4.) Do you have access to external software needed to to make the assets, like a graphic editing program, audio editing program, etc.?
5.) Are you prepared to spend years working on the project? Super Mario Fusion Revival had a team of 6 people working on it over 5 years, and they did not finish. If you will be working on this alone, even if you devote all your free time on it, you will easily spend years on the project.
6.) Do you really want to spend all those years working on a game using other companies' properties? No matter how dedicated you are, in the grand scheme of things, you are riding off the popularity of Mario to get people to play your game.

The Fusion Team has no interest in pursuing continued development of Super Mario Fusion Revival, therefore we have no interest in helping others out should they decide to continue this project on their own.

If after reading all that you still insist on continuing Super Mario Fusion Revival on your own, the download link is below. By downloading this, you indicate you have thoroughly read the above disclaimers and assume all risks.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5wa5tfk4xscc88n/Super%20Mario%20Fusion%20Revival%20r53e.rar?dl=0 (66.94 MB)

This download includes everything: GMK source, external files, DLLs, and the complete music soundtrack.

You need this extension in order to load the source in GM8: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5e822qon5t7x8pr/TextBox_Extension_V5.1.gex?dl=0  (9.5 KB)

Fusion Gameworks is now an independent game developer. We have moved on from making fangames, and as such, we will no longer provide support for our older fangames.
