Super Mario: All-Star Attack!
« on: June 23, 2015, 08:06:51 AM »
Hello everyone, Mikeystar here to bring you some fantastic news!

Preface: First off, Super Mario World: All-Star Edition received a name change by Mikeystar (project head)
to "Super Mario: All-Star Attack!" to reflect the maturation phase this fan-game is undergoing.
We have come a long way since 5 years ago with an ever-evolving game with a clear sense of direction.

Secondly, you may remember out first demo, released on Mario Fan Games Galaxy on Oct 26, 2014 and was later
exhibited on the Nintendo Community Fangame Convention  days later. Unfortunately, the 18 levels featured in the first demo
were not a reflection of our true vision for this game. Over the course of 7-8 months, we have made extensive updates to
the game in order to provide a fuller experience with this demo.

What does this demo feature?
- 50 Levels, which has the entirety of World 1 complete along with various levels added on to later worlds.
- Addition of Luigi as a playable character.
- Updated additions to music, modifications to old stages, and many glitch fixes.
- Updated Graphics thanks to the efforts of Geoshi, Karate Cat, Mikeystar45, and Neweegee.
- Achievements such as stamps to be unlocked, as well as a level list, all located in the DMG Screen of the World Map.

World Order:
~ World 1 (Minty Plains, Grassland)
~ World 2 (Djanet Dunes, Desert, Sand Canyon)
~ World 3 (Overswell Ocean, Beach, Waterfall)
~ World 4 (Yoshi's Island, Various, Jungle)
~ World 5 (Windswept Canyon / Aerate Altitudes, Badlands, Sky)
~ World 6 (Gelide Glacier, Snowland, Mountain, Iceberg and Ocean)
~ World 7 (Bowser's Industries, Industry, Urban, Casino)
~ World 8 (Koopa Core, Forest, Darkland)
~ World 9 (Stardust Route, Space, Various)

As quoted by Mikeystar (me):

"I would like to apologize for the various forms of glitches that has appeared during the first demo. The first demo was a hard start: Having to get the transition
between worlds was a challenge while getting the levels able to be completed without a problem. I did not like how much effort I put in to the programming, only to
realize the slightest of glitches can be the downfall of being unable to complete the last demo, including the frequent crashing due to FMOD Sound usage for Windows 8
Users including myself. I am glad to note that I fixed the majority of those problems for this upcoming demo, not to mention having a new playable character, Luigi!
Finally, the Mario Bros. are united!
But, due to all of this hardwork and effort to make a well polished fan-game, I believe I will be signing off of this project. The five years have been very hard for me:
Working constantly, daily, to get this game done, has been sometimes a chore and most times a passion. Times go far back when CaMtEnDo made his first debut about the
announcement of this fan-game.
If there are any questions you would like to ask, contact me, Mikeystar, on Mario Fangames Galaxy or YouTube. Feel free to ask me questions.
As for glitch fixes, I will not be up for fixing any glitches (unless it's assigned for special purposes such as livestreaming). If there are glitches that seem uncanny, whoopsie. Other than that, enjoy the last of my fan-game works before
I resign out of fan-gaming for a long time." ~ Mikeystar Skors

Closing Statements: Without further ado, go ahead and play this game! Any other information is clarified by the game information inside the executable.
If you would like to livestream this game, do a playthrough, or an LP, you are free to do so, though for LP'ers and livestreamers,
it is preferred that you contact either me or StrikeForcer on what times you want to play this game so that we
can address problems you may come across.

First off, I'm glad you decided to change the name; to me, Super Mario World: All-Star Edition was a misleading title, as when I first saw it, my mind immediately jumped to the superior port of Super Mario World featured in later releases of Super Mario All-Stars. Super Mario: All-Star Attack! sounds much more original, and not misleading in the slightest.

Second, I'm obsessed with those screenshots; the game looks absolutely gorgeous, and I'm sure these images alone are just the icing on the cake. I'm downloading it now, and I can't wait to try it out.

Glad you like it c: it is most definitely one of the most beautiful Mario fangames I've seen. TBH While developing SMBO Ch.1 this game's aesthetics were a huge inspiration to make SMBO look beautiful, and what people see will determine their initial interest and impressions. I'm a level designer for ASA and have contributed some codework, debugging, and sprites in the past. Look forward to people seeing what I've done x3

I must say, thank you so much! Having to get this fangame up and running to the public feels very difficult, as I've been sharing this game to various forums.
However, this game gets frowned upon because of "what's on the outside" of this game. It's saddening to hear how much the users complain about the glitches, though many have been fixed.

I'm very thankful to see your comment; I hope it runs smoothly for you, and perhaps you may even be able to play through the game. :)

I don't think I have a copy. Try to get in contact with Mikeystar and see if he can replace the link.

It seems to be same link for the second demo download like the one on his site or Youtube trailer description, which is down.
Someone there asked about a re-upload about 1 month ago or more. Still no replacement.
That's a bit unfortunate. The game looks so delicious I want to play it right now:argh:

I have what I think is the latest demo version on my computer, so maybe that could work. My problem with the game is that when you beat the first Hammer Bros. battle level in Djanet Dunes the world map path doesn't expand, which basically blocks me from the rest of the demo.

I don't think you can download it though. I couldn't figure out how to do that.  :|
You might be able to open it in Google Drive, add it to your drive (if you have one) and download it from there, but I know there's a way to make things public and downloadable like with Mediafire or Dropbox, I've seen Cap'n Coconuts do it before, I'm pretty sure.

You're right. It's a bit problematic to download it this way, since I can't seem to download the entire folders at once with maybe hundreds of containing files.

Generally if you want to upload a folder with many containing sub-files it is better to first make an archive container of that folder via WinRar or WinZip. -> Does generate a seperate Gamefolder.rar / Gamefolder.zip file, which can also be uploaded and later be unziped to the original Folder, like an envelope that contains a letter. If you had said programm installed onto your computer, you could conveniently right-click on any given file(s) / folder(s) to archive, or on any archive to unzip it. (Hope that explains it understandable. I'm German, thus my English may be a bit awkard.)

Also, for archives/files up to 40MB I find it most conveniently to use share.cherrytree.at/ both as downloader as well as uploader. But any other service that doesn't require a user account as downloader is just as fine, like Googledrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, Xup, etc. Cherryshare doesn't even require an account as uploader, though, unlike some other upload services.

I can't use Cherrytree because my .rar file for this game exceeds even the premium size limit. Should I just try Mediafire or Google Drive or something?
Oh by the way my icon is Larry Koopa from this game.

Ok. Just saying for files up to 40MB Cherryshare was second to none. SMASA is too big though (at least in one archive part).

If it's still not too bothering for you, that's fine too, as I wrote. I also have a mega.nz account as an option.

Nice one, the Larry Koopa icon. :)
(As for my part, I am undecided of which avatar picture would suit, so it's still blank at the moment...)

I decided to just post it on Mediafire.

B)
Also, I figured out you can press F12 to open all the paths of a level on the world map. I've only used this once in the World 2 bug. Now I can continue with the game at least.
My download comes with my save, also.

Awesome, thank you! :D
I hope this bug you mentioned earlier in the Djanet Dunes doesn't appear too early in the demo (or better not obligatory every time).
